I’m Dildra Sisuma by name, a finalist student at MASINDE MULIRO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY pursuing a course in Criminology and criminal justice. I’m a multiple award winning model, the managing director at Dildra the Model Enterprise and an award winning Community Youth Champion CYC2020 Fellow under The Border Hub.  This is a youth-led and youth-serving Organization providing skills, character and economic development programs; enabling youth and their communities to access opportunities for socio-economic prosperity On the Tuesday, 6th October 2020 we launched our CYC Fellowship program which is an annual capacity development program for outstanding local change makers by The Border Hub. The launching event was graced by a number of visitors who were very eager to get a deeper and a crystal clear understanding of what “The Border Hub” was and the purpose of its existence. The program begun by Mr. Magero Deogratius, Founder of The Border Hub giving the opening remarks at 8:45 am. He thereafter welcomed Ms. Abukayo Murunga, the composed and soft spoken lady who is a member of the border hub team to give her speech. In her speech, she appreciated the guests for honoring the invite and turning up in large numbers.   The next speeches were from the CYC Fellows Mr. Josiah Wanyama and Ms. Nelly Asere and yours truly, MS Dildra Sisuma. We briefly talked about our community initiatives and the achievements we have made in the course of changing the community into a better habitable place for human nature. The Guests of the day picked up from there. The guests present included Mrs. Alice, the Busia County Gender officer, Ms. Muyomi the director at Green Agri Ventures, Ms. Hallima Nyota  from Youth Leaders Stakeholders in Kakamega and Maureen Muleka from Vihiga. They all had awesome encouraging messages for the CYC fellows. In Ms. Muyomi’s speech she advised the congregants to always “think globally and act locally” for the globe to notice their impact and come in for partnerships. Friends and partners who were in for the day were as well given opportunities to address the congregation. These were representatives from different organizations with similar interests to The Border Hub. Just to name but a few organizations represented on the particular day include; Africa Youth for SDGS, ICY Africa, Profectus capital, World Vision, Amref Health Africa, CCGD, FLEP and many more. On behalf of the guests present, Mrs. Sisuma Josephine, my sweet mother, was asked to briefly give a word of encouragement to the CYC fellows and thereafter the chief guest’s turn came. The guest of the day was the Busia County ICT 7 Communication Chief Officer, Mrs. Lydia Nabwire. She urged parents to support their youths’ talents and help them achieve their life goals. Besides that she promised to support the Border Hub projects in her capacities; news that received an applause from the border hub team. Mr Clayton Opiyo from Amref Health Africa, as the keynote speaker of the day was the last person to address the congregation and declared the CYS fellowship program 2020 formally launched. Mr. Eugene Buluma, my fellow CYC Fellow closed it up with a vote of thanks and lead people to the photo session directed by our able photographer and CYC Fellow, Micheal Juma of Mikeone photography. Our guests left at their own pleasure after the photo session as the fellowship kicked off right away, led by the Joe Bonga and his team from Africa for SDGs.
